[WWW WEDNESDAY] #9

In this week’s WWW Wednesday there’s a Lot going on haha! I didn’t manage to finish reading all of the books I was reading last week for one. So it was a bit quiet in that department. I am quite busy with my current reads though. There’s lots to talk about!

WWW Wednesday is a weekly book meme article I love to write. In this article, I’ll tell you about what book(s) I last finished reading, What book(s) I’m currently reading and What I’m planning to read next. I also love to hear what all of your WWW’s are so feel free to leave a reply! Happy Reading!

The last book I finished reading was Until you’re mine by Cindi Madsen. It’s contemporary romance involving MMA fighters. I’ve read the other book in the series, Until we’re More, and I loved that one so much that I gave it a 5-star rating which I don’t often do anymore when it comes to contemporary romance.

So I was quite excited to read Until you’re mine, but unfortunately that one wasn’t As good to me as Until we’re more was due to some factors that irritated me. The writing was really good though and that’s the reason that I wanted to finish the book.

If there’d be another book in this series, I’d definitely want to read it even though this one bothered me a bit on some fronts. It wasn’t the writing but just some aspects of the behaviorism of the characters. I didn’t experience this with Until we’re more, so I know this author can do better. So that’s why I’m definitely hoping there’ll be more books in the series.

And it wasn’t that I hated the book or anything but those things that bothered me, were the reason why I couldn’t give it more than a 3-star rating. 3-star is still good in my book though. It was enjoyable, it had elements that I really liked but there were also things that bothered me. So overall, it was still a fun read!

currently reading

I’m currently still reading that Historical Romance arc I recently received by St. Martins press; Highland Crown by May McGoldrick, which is the first book in the Royal Highlander series. I was in the mood for some Scottish romance recently and couldn’t pass up on this arc opportunity. I’m only reading bits and pieces at night in bed, so it’s not going really fast. But I’m really liking it so far. It’s interesting and I really like the characters. I’m at that point when things are getting a bit more developed story wise so I’m curious to see what’ll happen next. Whenever I do get around to reading it, I’m going through it fast. I’m currently 57% so I’m getting there haha.

At the beginning of the week, I started reading Ice like Fire by Sara Raasch, which is the second installment in the Snow like Ashes trilogy. I really liked the first book back when I first read it in April 2016 but somehow I just never got around to reading the rest of the books in the series. Since I wanted to do more buddy reads this year, I got together with Candyce and Isabelle from the Bookdutchesses to buddy-read this one! We made a schedule to read 3 chapters each day. This, so we can discuss the book throughout our reading experience, instead of someone ending up finishing the book days before someone else – which happened when we buddy read Cassandra Clare back in November/December, lol.

So far, I’m really liking this book. I was actually hooked right from the start – and I remember the first book being so enjoyable as well so I’m glad this one takes off so strongly. I enjoyed reading the first chapters a lot and it had me really excited to continue reading so that’s a good sign. I’m currently almost halfway through, since I’ve already read the chapters of today. So by the time the next WWW Wednesday comes rolling around, we’ll be finished with this one.

I’m also buddy-reading another book, which I also started at the beginning of this week; the Valiant by Lesley Livingston, the first book in the Valiant series. I’m buddyreading this one with Marie from @mixed_matched_socks. She’s someone I met through Instagram and I love talking to her. She was saying she still needed to read this book and I was planning on re-reading it in January, since I’m reading the second installment in February. That’s when we decided it would be fun to read it together.

We’re reading 4 chapters per day so today I’ll be reading chapter 9 through 12. This is such a fast-paced read and I’m so glad to be back in this world. I loved reading this book the first time around, back in 2017

read next

As I said in last week’s WWW: Normally I don’t hold myself all too well on prior made TBR stacks. But for January I decided to create one anyway since I wanted to fill in my new planner by Little Inkling Designs which has a TBR page in it – and it’s just a shame to not use it right? lol. I’ll probably end up reading a lot of other books but ah well.. At least I’m trying, lol.

When I get around to finish my current reads – and I want to finish at least the two physical books I’m reading, Ice like Fire and the Valiant – I plan on reading one of the following books:

  • a Promise of Fire by Amanda Bouchet (the Kingmaker Chronicles #1) – REREAD
  • How to date a Douchebag; the failing Hours by Sara Ney (How to date a Douchebag #2)
  • Blood Heart by Lexi C. Foss (Immortal Curse #3)

Those are the three remaining books then on my January tbr. But since I’ll be receiving some new books this month as well, there’s a possibility I’ll be changing things up a bit haha. It depends on my mood really, on whether I prefer reading paranormal romance, contemporary romance or young adult at the time I want to start a new one. So, we’ll see.

So that’s my WWW Wednesday for this week! I’m really excited to hear about the books you’ve just finished reading, currently reading and planning on reading next. Love to hear from you. Have a nice Wednesday lovelies!

I never seem to get around to reading all the books I mean to. I did do a buddy read of Dracula in October and I sometimes join a group on a book forum to read a classic. But this year I’m not making plans. I’ve given up trying to do challenges and finish my TBR I think not making plans and reading what I want when I want might help my more. I think it’s all become like a chore and I want it to be fun again 🙂 I love buddy reads though it’s great finding out what others think about books, sharing opinions. I don’t know many people offline who read so I miss the book chatter.
