I managed to finish 2 books in the past week, I’m currently also reading 2 books – one printed copy and one arc on my kindle – and I’m really excited about the books I want to read in the upcoming weeks!
WWW Wednesday is a weekly book meme article I love to write. In this article, I’ll tell you about what book(s) I last finished reading, What book(s) I’m currently reading and What I’m planning to read next. I also love to hear what all of your WWW’s are so feel free to leave a reply! Happy Reading!
I got lucky and received an arc of Armed ‘N Ready by Tee O’Fallon, the second installment in the Federal K-9 series. I’ve bought and read the first book, Lock ‘N Load in 2017 and loved it so so much – I reread it already as well – so I was really grateful for receiving an arc of the second book in the series.
I was originally planning to read it in February, but since I finished my January tbr early I decided to pick this one up last week.
This was yet again a frigging wonderful read and I gave it a 5 star rating. It only had elements I loved like compelling writing, mystery and suspense, well developed characters and a magnificent romance. Enthralling read from beginning till end!
I also finished my re-read of a Promise of Fire by Amanda Bouchet, the first book in the Kingmaker Chronicles. I put this one on my January tbr because I was in the mood to return to this world and these characters. It’s been a while since my last read in 2018, so it felt good to be back with Cat, Griffin and the others.
This is one of my all-time favorite fantasy romance series and I can’t get enough of Amanda’s writing. This was my third time reading a Promise of Fire and it won’t be my last. This is a series I’ll be re-reading forever!
It was yet again such a wonderful reading experience. I like this world, the world building and settings so much. The Greek mythology elements are so well woven into the storyline. The characters are all amazingly developed and lovable. There are some amazing friendships present – I love good friendships – and the romance is sexy AF, enthralling and beautiful! There’s action, adventure and suspense. This book has Everything I love reading about!
I also finished reading Forever my Girl by Heidi McLaughlin the first book in the yesterday evening. I’m still not sure what to think and feel regarding this read. It was fast-paced and had some enjoyable elements. I liked the writing but there’s something about this story, the set up and some things happening, that didn’t really reel me in, you know?
I keep feeling distanced from this story somehow and I guess it’s because of this – small spoiler ahead -: There’s a time when the main characters are on the verge of cheating on the female lead’s fiancée and this bothered me a lot. They didn’t go through with it, but in my opinion things were just going too far emotionally wise.
So I guess that really put a damper on things a bit. They didn’t went through with it, and I understand the mixed feelings about the entire situation, but the female lead wasn’t really reliable because of that and I thought that was a shame.
In the end I thought the book picked up after that and the story was much more likable then. I’m still quite curious about the other books in the series since I really liked the supportive characters and want to read their stories as well. I gave this book a 3-star rating, which means it was okay/enjoyable but I also had the same amount of remarks on the story. It’s a book that was fun to read but isn’t one I’ll be re-reading.
Mistakes? She’s made a few…
Dropped out of high school? Check. Ran away with loser boyfriend at age sixteen? Check. Fell for every line from every guy? Sadly, check. But now, Tess Papion has started over. Juggling multiple part-time jobs while finishing her college degree, she’s not letting anything get in her way. Especially not a sexy angel investor with “one-night disaster” written all over him.
Mason Coleman just inherited a 200-pound invalid Mastiff—and an intriguing, unusual, and thoroughly infuriating dog nanny who turns his life upside down the moment she steps through his front door. No matter how she makes him feel Mason doesn’t do commitment—so what happens when he falls for her? And worse, what happens when she wants nothing to do with him?
I received an arc of Heartbreaker from the publisher. I was originally planning on reading it in February since I have to publish my review then as well, but I felt in the mood for starting a bit early haha. I’m not that far in yet, but so far the writing is really good and it has me wanting to continue reading constantly. So, yeah… It’s a really promising read so far and I’m excited to continue reading hopefully today! It has interesting characters and also a dog present – I love the presence of dogs in books so much – and I hope the romance is going to be well developed as well. We’ll see! To be continued 😉
She’s a stunner.
Edinburgh, 1844. Eighteen-year-old Lady Aileana Kameron, the only daughter of the Marquess of Douglas, has everything a girl could dream of: brains, charm, wealth, a title—and drop-dead beauty.
She’s a liar.
But Aileana only looks the part of an aristocratic young lady. she’s leading a double life: She has a rare ability to sense the sìthíchean—the faery race obsessed with slaughtering humans—and, with the aid of a mysterious mentor, has spent the year since her mother died learning how to kill them.
She’s a murderer.
Now Aileana is dedicated to slaying the fae before they take innocent lives. With her knack for inventing ingenious tools and weapons—from flying machines to detonators to lightning pistols—ruthless Aileana has one goal: Destroy the faery who destroyed her mother.
She’s a Falconer.
The last in a line of female warriors born with a gift for hunting and killing the fae, Aileana is the sole hope of preventing a powerful faery population from massacring all of humanity. Suddenly, her quest is a lot more complicated. She still longs to avenge her mother’s murder—but she’ll have to save the world first.
This is a book I’ve been wanting to read for aaaages but just haven’t gotten around to do so. So I decided to put it on my February TBR and since I finished Forever my Girl yesterday, I decided to pick up a YA book – since I’m already reading a romance on the kindle – and thought this would be the perfect pick. I bought the book back when it wasn’t really known yet, but in the meantime there have been more and more positive reviews I’ve come across and I’m really excited to find out if I’m going to love this one as well!
Since I was able to completely finish my January tbr, it’s time to look forward to February. I already started to a couple of arc books for February, but there’s still lots more I want to read in the upcoming weeks, like:
- the Last Letter by Rebecca Yarros
- My favorite Cowboy by Donna Grant
- Tomboy by Avery Flynn
- the Falconer by Elizabeth May
- Honor Reclaimed by Tonya Burrows
- Can’t Text This by Teagan Hunter
- the Defiant by Lesley Livingston
- Shadow and Ice by Gena Showalter
