In my Monday Memories article, I talk about what I’ve been up to personally, aside from reading books, in the past week or month and in this Wrap-Up, I’ll be looking back to my reading month.
I’ll talk about my read books, the articles that I published on the blog and Reading Stats. But I’ll also be looking forward a bit to next month; What am I looking forward to reading and I try to provide myself with a TBR stack that is realistic for me to hopefully finish reading in the upcoming month.
Here we go!
What did I read in October?
I started October by finishing #9 in the Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh, Archangel’s Heart. This is one of my most favorite paranormal romance series ever. I’ve been a fan for years and in preparation for the next release in the series that was 2 days ago, October 30th, I decided to re-read parts of the series so I was up to date for when Archangel’s Prophecy arrived on my doorstep. I gave it a 4-star rating.
This is going to Hurt by Adam Key was the second book I finished in October and it has been a perfect ‘in-between’ book. One you can pick up at any time and continue reading. This book ended up being such a great reading experience! Right from the start until the very last page, it was addictive and I’d really recommend it. I gave it a 4-star rating.
Next was Archangel’s Viper by Nalini Singh, the only I hadn’t read yet in the series. I’ve been looking forward to reading this book ever since I first got to know Venom early on in the series. I ended up rating this book with a 4-star rating. It was so incredibly enjoyable! I can’t get enough of this world and these characters.
Let’s get textual by Teagan Hunter was one I enjoyed so so much! These characters are to die for and the humor is outstanding! I laughed out loud so many times!
In between, I also finished my read of Nightchaser by Amanda Bouchet, one of my most anticipated 2019 releases. I am delighted to say this book lived up to its expectations and an extended review will follow soon.
Afterward, I read I wanna text you up by Teagan Hunter, which was yet again such a great read! It was not As good as Let’s get textual is though, in my opinion, but I really enjoyed reading it though. I can really recommend Teagan’s books if you’re looking for a fun contemporary romance read!
the Good luck Charm by Helena Hunting was a fantastic contemporary sports romance. It’s set in the same world as the pucked book series so that was a fantastic surprise. If you’re into sports romance – hockey in particular – and like a second-chance-romance trope as well, the good luck charm is definitely a book I’d recommend! Actually; It’s Helena Hunting, so knowing she’s written it is reason enough to recommend the book haha. Love her writing!
The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang was one of the best surprises this month. I was expecting a cute, light-hearted and romantic read but I got not only that but so much more. It had so much depth and development present and it was so SEXY! I LOVED every single moment spent reading this book.
the Hating Game by Sally Thorn was an enjoyable read.
a Curse so Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer is a 2019 release I was so looking forward to, so receiving an e-arc of the book back in September was something I didn’t foresee happening since it’s from Bloomsbury and they are normally quite strict with sending out arcs and such. This is a Beauty and the Beast re-telling I’ve never come across before and I mean this in the best way possible; it was fan-freaking-tastic!
And then there’s Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas. Of course, everything was put aside when it arrived so I could read it. This book exceeded my expectations and it is such a beautiful homage to the entire series. This book does the ToG series proud and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out!
the Rival by Megan Green is a sports romance book, the third in a series, that I finished reading this month because I’m participating in the blogtour. It was really enjoyable and I loved returning to this particular world/setting and these characters a lot since I came to love all of them in book 1 and 2 already. Book 3 is a really great addition to the series!
And the last book I finished in October was Lord of the Fading Lands by C.L. Wilson. I tried so hard to finish this book at the end of October so I could add it to this list haha. Somehow I couldn’t get through this book as fast as I would’ve liked and at this point, I’m not entirely sure if I’ll be continuing the series anytime soon. I gave it a 3-star rating so it was okay, it definitely had some fun and interesting elements but I wasn’t super enthusiastic while reading it you know? We’ll see. I am planning on reading book 2 someday so I can find out if it was my particular mood that made me feel not so enthusiastic or if this series just really isn’t one I want to continue reading in the future.
What were my Reading Stats in October?
What was published on the Blog?
This month, there isn’t that many to be found yet since I only started publishing a couple of weeks ago. I tried to add some reviews to the archive but also add some other articles as well. There’s still a lot of different articles I want to publish so hopefully I get around to finish and publish them next month. Let’s have a look as to what was published on Melissa’s Fandom World in the first weeks of me being back at blogging again.

What am I looking forward to?
In my monthly releases articles I talked a bit more about November releases I’m looking forward to but aside from November releases there are also some other books I’m looking forward to reading next month.
I’m planning a re-read of Lady Midnight and Lord of Shadows since Queen of Air and Darkness is releasing on December 4th and I want to be READY for it. It’s never a punishment to return to the shadowhunter world since it’s my favorite fandom next to Harry Potter and Throne of Glass. the Dark Artifices books have been amazing reads so far and Lord of Shadows is one of Clare’s best books she’s written to date I think. I’m not sure I’m ready to re-read Lord of Shadows – THE FEELS – and reading the final installment of the trilogy next month, but I’m so excited at the same time as well haha #bookwormstruggles right? So yeah, in November I’ll be focusing on the Dark Artifices a lot!
BOOK BOX HEAVEN
Aside from books and reading, there is more to be looking forward to; BOOK BOXES. I’ll be receiving my Flick the Wick October box, I’ll be receiving my LUX inspired box which includes a signed copy of the Darkest Star by JL Armentrout, I’ll be receiving my Faecrate book-hangover box inspired by the Throne of Glass series and I’ll be receiving the Illumicrate box – if nothing gets delayed when being shipped.
As I said before, I definitely plan on re-reading Lady Midnight and Lord of Shadows. Those are the most important reads to me in November. Other than that, who knows? I always have a prior made ASAP TBR stack that stands on my dresser in our living room and I mostly pick my new reads from that stack when I go in search of something new. But I am known for not holding myself to a prior made tbr stack as well haha. For all I know, I won’t read any book on the current tbr stack, lol.
Do you create a tbr stack each month and do you hold yourself to it? What are you looking forward to in November? Any particular release or just a book you’re excited about reading or a book box you’re receiving? Love to hear from you!
