[BEAT THE BACKLIST 2019] Update #1

The first two months of the year have flown by! I thought it would be fun to look back to the books I’ve managed to read so far, and to see if and how many books I can cross off the Beat the Backlist TBR.

I think I’m going to write these updates every 2 months or so, because it could be possible that if I’d do it once a month, I wasn’t able to finish any books of the list. I’ll put down the list of 40 books in each Update article and Cross off the ones that I’ve finished reading and talk about them some more.

In the past 2 months I was able to cross off the following books

[MONTHLY FAVORITES] 2018 re-cap

favorite reads1.jpgNormally I write down a couple of my favorite reads each month, in this monthly favorites article. Today I’m going to look back to 2018 entirely and write down 1 favorite of each month, so 12 books in total.

Curious to see which books ended up on my favorite list this year? Continue reading…

In the first 6 months I’ve read more (paranormal) romance books than as I did (YA) fantasy, so you’ll be seeing quite some romance favorites in this list.

Aside from romance, the rest of my favorites are all ya fantasy books, which isn’t surprising to me in the least since that’s one of my fave genres to read aside from romance books haha.

Since I’ve read well over 200 books in 2018, it was really hard to narrow it down to choosing only 1 favorite per month since I’ve read multiple 5-star reads almost every month or so. Some months it was really easy to me to chose just 1 but other months it was a real struggle since there haven been so many books in a month I ended up loving so much and I have to think of a way to give them some attention as well someday.

So, those are the 12 books I decided to choose for this list. As said, I easily could’ve added so many more books to this list that have become favorites of mine, but then the article would be too much I think, lol.

I’d love to hear about your favorite 2018 reads! Maybe I’ll discover some new reads that way as well so I can add them to my 2019 tbr. Thanks for reading!

[MONDAY MEMORIES] Bye December… Bye 2018!

Today’s the last day of 2018. What a month… what a year! It all has flown by so quickly. I’ll be writing a 2018 wrap-up very soon as well. In this Monday Memories article, I’ll be focusing on the month of December.

December has been such a busy, stressed and fun month at the same time haha. It’s always filled with so many busy days prior to Christmas for example; doing a lot of last-minute shopping and what not – We always start buying presents months before to have most of it done asap but there are always several things we end up doing last-minute, unfortunately, haha.

December over here is filled with family visits and just enjoying our time at home with the Christmas tree and decorations, which provides for such a cozy atmosphere. I always dread and love the December month all at the same time haha.

On December 25th we always spend the day at home, the four of us (my husband, Milan, our dog and myself), unpacking the gifts we bought for each other and Milan. This is always my most favorite Christmas day and not because my husband spends too much money on buying Milan and I presents – although I love receiving presents so you won’t hear me complaining about it of course haha – but just for the fact we get to spend this entire day as a family without any mandatory visits and such. It’s always a lot of fun

[BOOKHAUL] December 2018

This is going to be a big one you guys! So I won’t be adding a synopsis of every book, like I normally do. But I’ll put links in the book titles so you can click them and you’ll be able to read the synopsis on Goodreads right away!

This month’s book haul will include:

  • Books I pre-ordered and/or bought myself
  • Books I received from friends this Christmas
  • Books I received from family other than my husband, this Christmas
  • Books I received from my husband this Christmas

So yeah, that’s going to be quite a lot hihi. Are you ready? Here we go!

| Self-bought books |

There are only a few books I bought this month myself, because it’s an expensive month as it is with Christmas hihi. And since I’d be receiving some books with Christmas anyway, from friends and family, I decided to low-key it when it came to buying books for myself. Most books weren’t really bought for December, but just arrived later, aside from Queen of Air and Darkness which released on December 4th. I also received the Illumicrate box on December 1st so the two books that were inside the box belong to this December haul as well.

  • Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare, Hardcover edition
  • Queen of Air and Darkness by C. Clare, Waterstones special edition
  • Pucked Love by Helena Hunting, paperback edition
  • Wild Magic by Tamora Pierce, exclusive cover edition
  • Empress of All Seasons by Emiko Jean, exclusive hardcover edition

| Books I received from friends |

I participated in a lottery exchange thingy with my friends Adinda and Kaylee. Each of us would buy a book and some bookmarks for one other person so we all had a package from one another underneath the tree. Kaylee was the one who got my name so she sent me not one but two books from my wishlist and she added some magnetic bookmarks which I am so frigging in love with; Wonder Woman, Superman, Ariël and prince Eric!! I couldn’t be happier with all of this!

I also got a Christmas box from my friend Wenda, since we always exchange present among each other. And she got me two books as well as some non-bookish stuff which I’ll show you guys in my non-book Christmas haul tomorrow! I got so pampered, thanks lovelies!

| Books I received from family |

My Christmas wish list for the family always consists of books haha. We always go to my mother in law and my parents on Christmas eve and exchange presents among the adults – the children unpack their presents on December 26th. So I received books from my parents, my sister and my family in law. I made wish lists beforehand so mostly, I knew what I’d be receiving from them all, except for the ones I got from my sister since that was a larger wish list so she could surprise me.

And then my husband always pampers me as well so I had to show those books separately.

Soooo… yeah, December has been an amazing book haul month haha! It’s a good thing I cleaned out my bookshelves last month to create some more space, so I can add these lovelies to the collection. I’m so happy and so very thankful to each and every one of the people who pampered me.

[non bookish HAUL] Christmas 2018

I swear to God, in another life I was a dragon. I love collecting books, merchandise, jewelry and so many other stuff. Of course, the most important thing in life to me is the Love of my family and friends, but I cannot deny I love material stuff as well. I sometimes feel like a dragon with all of my ‘treasures’ hihi. I love buying stuff but I love getting gifts as well even though I love giving people gifts even more so.

In yesterdays BOOKHAUL ARTICLE you could see all the books I received this December/Christmas and but aside from Books, I also received a lot of non-book-items this Christmas as well. A couple of them I received from my sister among others, my friend Wenda, and I got pampered by my dear husband who always pampers us so much throughout the year but especially with Christmas – I only put books on the wishlist for my other relatives. Since I wanted to show my bookhaul separately, I though it’d be nice to show off the non-book-items as well that I received this Christmas. Here we go!

| CONCLUSION |

Well, my conclusion is; I’m flabbergasted haha. I already got so many awesome new books to add to my collection, which I showed you guys in the Bookhaul article yesterday, so that was already amazing. And then there are also all of these amazing items I received as well from my lovely sister, my lovely friend and my dearest husband.

[MEET THE AUTHOR MONDAY] RARE authors I want to meet #2

I recently published a Bookish Article about the RARE event; telling you about the event I’m going to attend in September ’19, which authors are attending and more – and the Meet the Author Monday – RARE unicorn authors article. Originally, I created ‘Meet the author Monday’ to publish author Q&A’s but I thought it would be a good idea to talk some more about the authors who are attending this event. I can fill in this article however way I want to right ;)?

As I wrote down in the Bookish Article, I made 3 different lists, categorizing the authors by priority:

  • a list consisting of my UNICORN authors; authors I want to meet for sure and I hope I’ll be able to use the extra 2 hours before the official opening hours to see most of them – since it’s my first time going I have no idea as to how realistic this plan of mine is, lol.
  • a list of Authors I’ve already read and really liked and would want to meet up with, but they aren’t priority (yet).
  • a list of Authors I haven’t read yet but I want to read and get to know beforehand and meet up with if I have time to spare.

Today I’ll be focusing on my list of authors I already read some books of and really liked. These are the authors who I really want to meet when I checked off meeting my unicorn authors hihi. They are authors I really want to meet but aren’t as much of a priority to me as my unicorn authors, you know?
