Top Ten Tuesday is all about books – sometimes non bookish things – and a top 10 list. It was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
How it works:
That Artsy Reader Girl assigns each Tuesday a topic and then I have to post my top ten(or 2, 5, 20, etc.) list that fits that topic. This week’s topic is:
This week’s subject is a really great one, because I love looking forward to release so much! But seeing it’s supposed to be a top ten, it’s going to be hard as well to limit myself haha. There are so many awesome looking books releasing in the 2nd part of 2019 that I’m excited for and want to talk about.
This time, I’ve again really tried to stick to the 10-books-and-not-more-list haha. Seeing I also often publish my Monthly Releases article, in which I’ll look forward to upcoming releases as well, I can give all the books I want to talk about attention anyway at some point, so it should be manageable to stick to 10, right? *insert sarcasm + eye rolling* Yeah, right…
The books mentioned in this list are my absolute favorites; my most highly anticipated releases. Most of them are books by authors already known to me, books that are mostly releasing in an already existing series. Curious to see what I’m looking forward too most? Read on!

At the moment, this is THE #1 release I’m looking forward to. Even though it’s not That long anymore until July 2nd, it feels like I’ll still have to wait forever haha. I’ve read the first book, Kill the Queen, earlier this year and was hooked; utterly and instantly hooked. I’m so ready to see how the story continues in this second installment. Jennifer’s writing is amazing and I can’t get enough of it. You can read my review of Kill the Queen on the blog as well, by clicking HERE for example.

Gladiator meets Game of Thrones: a royal woman becomes a skilled warrior to destroy her murderous cousin, avenge her family, and save her kingdom in this first entry in a dazzling fantasy epic from the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Elemental Assassin series—an enthralling tale that combines magic, murder, intrigue, adventure, and a hint of romance.
In a realm where one’s magical power determines one’s worth, Lady Everleigh’s lack of obvious ability relegates her to the shadows of the royal court of Bellona, a kingdom steeped in gladiator tradition. Seventeenth in line for the throne, Evie is nothing more than a ceremonial fixture, overlooked and mostly forgotten.
But dark forces are at work inside the palace. When her cousin Vasilia, the crown princess, assassinates her mother the queen and takes the throne by force, Evie is also attacked, along with the rest of the royal family. Luckily for Evie, her secret immunity to magic helps her escape the massacre.
Forced into hiding to survive, she falls in with a gladiator troupe. Though they use their talents to entertain and amuse the masses, the gladiators are actually highly trained warriors skilled in the art of war, especially Lucas Sullivan, a powerful magier with secrets of his own. Uncertain of her future—or if she even has one—Evie begins training with the troupe until she can decide her next move.
But as the bloodthirsty Vasilia exerts her power, pushing Bellona to the brink of war, Evie’s fate becomes clear: she must become a fearsome gladiator herself . . . and kill the queen.

I came across this book some months ago when looking for dragon-reads and the cover and synopsis immediately lured me in. It looks like a really promising first book in a new series and I am really excited about reading it. I put in a pre-order and can’t wait for the book to arrive.
The Omehi people have been fighting an unwinnable fight for almost two hundred years. Their society has been built around war and only war. The lucky ones are born gifted. One in every two thousand women has the power to call down dragons. One in every hundred men is able to magically transform himself into a bigger, stronger, faster killing machine.
Everyone else is fodder, destined to fight and die in the endless war. Young, gift-less Tau knows all this, but he has a plan of escape. He’s going to get himself injured, get out early, and settle down to marriage, children, and land. Only, he doesn’t get the chance. Those closest to him are brutally murdered, and his grief swiftly turns to anger. Fixated on revenge, Tau dedicates himself to an unthinkable path. He’ll become the greatest swordsman to ever live, a man willing to die a hundred thousand times for the chance to kill the three who betrayed him.

The shacking up series by Helena was the third series by her I started reading and it has rapidly become one of my favorite series by her. I’ve devoured the first 3 books in the series and was so excited to see there’d be a 4th. I couldn’t just not put this book on this list, because it’s truly one of my most highly anticipated releases for the 2nd part of 2019. Cannot wait to get my hands on this one. Helena is one of my favorite go to authors when it comes to the contemporary romance genre. Her reads are always so fun and addictive and perfect to pick up any time!
Cosy Felton is great at her job—she knows just how to handle the awkwardness that comes with working at an adult toy store. So when the hottest guy she’s ever seen walks into the shop looking completely overwhelmed, she’s more than happy to turn on the charm and help him purchase all of the items on his list.
Griffin Mills is using his business trip in Las Vegas as a chance to escape the broken pieces of his life in New York City. The last thing he wants is to be put in charge of buying gag gifts for his friend’s bachelor party. Despite being totally out of his element, and mortified by the whole experience, Griffin is pleasantly surprised when he finds himself attracted to the sales girl that helped him.
As skeptical as Cosy may be of Griffin’s motivations, there’s something about him that intrigues her. But sometimes what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas and when real life gets in the way, all bets are off. Filled with hilariously awkward situations and enough sexual chemistry to power Sin City, Making Up is the next standalone in the Shacking Up world.

I really don’t even need to know what K.A. Tucker’s upcoming release is about because everything she writes and publishes is something I want to own and read haha. Say you still love me is one I’m really looking forward to. I normally always know I’m in for a beautiful, heartfelt romantic read when starting a KA Tucker book, so I’m positive this one is going to provide me with a beautiful reading experience as well. Definitely one that I’ll put on my summer tbr because I really hope I get around to reading it in August.
On the one hand, she’s a twenty-nine-year-old VP at her dad’s multibillion-dollar real estate development firm, and living the high single life with her two best friends in a swanky downtown penthouse. On the other hand, she’s considered a pair of sexy legs in a male-dominated world and constantly has to prove her worth. Plus, she’s stuck seeing her narcissistic ex-fiancé—a fellow VP—on the other side of her glass office wall every day.
Things get exponentially more complicated for Piper when she runs into Kyle Miller—the handsome new security guard at Calloway Group Industries, and coincidentally the first love of her life.
The guy she hasn’t seen or heard from since they were summer camp counsellors together. The guy from the wrong side of the tracks. The guy who apparently doesn’t even remember her name.
Piper may be a high-powered businesswoman now, but she soon realizes that her schoolgirl crush is not only alive but stronger than ever, and crippling her concentration. What’s more, despite Kyle’s distant attitude, she’s convinced their reunion isn’t at all coincidental, and that his feelings for her still run deep. And she’s determined to make him admit to them, no matter the consequences.

I cannot begin to express how much I’m looking forward to this release. Mary stole my heart when first reading her Remnant Chronicles books. And she’s shown me yet again with Dance of Thieves why she’s made it to my favorites list all those years ago. Her writing is so utterly amazing. This upcoming release is one of those books for which you’ll drop Everything when it’s being delivered. A book you start reading right away and won’t stop reading until you’re finished. This is the second book in a duology so it’s also the final installment which is normally even more exciting. Seeing the stellar job she did on book 3 in the remnant chronicles, I really cannot wait to see what she’s going to give us with the wrap up of these characters in this super awesome story set in this amazing world we got to know in the remnant chronicles first.

A new novel in the New York Times–bestselling Remnant Chronicles universe, in which a reformed thief and the young leader of an outlaw dynasty lock wits in a battle that may cost them their lives—and their hearts.
When the patriarch of the Ballenger empire dies, his son, Jase, becomes its new leader. Even nearby kingdoms bow to the strength of this outlaw family, who have always governed by their own rules. But a new era looms on the horizon, set in motion by a young queen, which makes her the target of the dynasty’s resentment and anger.
At the same time, Kazi, a legendary former street thief, is sent by the queen to investigate transgressions against the new settlements. When Kazi arrives in the forbidding land of the Ballengers, she learns that there is more to Jase than she thought. As unexpected events spiral out of their control, bringing them intimately together, they continue to play a cat and mouse game of false moves and motives in order to fulfill their own secret missions.

Laura is one of my most favorite go to authors when I’m in need of intense, real, beautiful and suspenseful romance. Whether she writes about bikers, ex military man, etc… I cannot get enough of her books. The Warrior Fighting Club is one of my fave series by her so far. They are emotional and hit me right in the feels every single time. This third book in the series is one I’ve been dying to read ever since coming across these characters as minor ones in the first book. Due to some unfortunate events (someone stole her laptop) Laura had to set back the release date for this one since it was originally planned to release months ago. But waiting makes the heart grow fonder they say? lol. We’ll see about that 😉 Anyway, a new Laura Kaye release is always a book that comes onto my most highly anticipated releases. So excited!
There’s only one thing firefighter Sean Riddick doesn’t like about Warrior Fight Club, and that’s Daniela England, the sexiest, snarkiest, most irritating woman he’s ever known. But MMA training keeps the Navy vet grounded, so Sean’s not about to give it up, no matter how many times he goes toe to toe with Dani—or how bad he wants to take her to the mats.
A former Army nurse and the widow of a fallen soldier, Dani is done with the military and with military men. Fight club is the only thing that eases her nightmares, which means she has to put up with Riddick. He might be sex on a stick, but he’s infuriating and everything she’s vowed to avoid.
But when an accident throws Sean and Dani together, all that fight bursts into a night of red-hot passion. Now they’re addicted to the heat and must decide if the one person they’ve most resisted might be exactly what they’ve both been looking for.

It’s a book about Loki. It’s set in 19th Century London. I don’t need to know more; I NEED THIS BOOK IN MY LIFE. I’ve been waiting for some more MARVEL character re-tellings to come our way (there are a few but nearly enough of them in my opinion haha) and I’m so happy there’s this Loki one coming out in September. I haven’t read a thing by this author yet. Really excited to get aquatinted with her work. The synopsis looks just awesome and I can’t wait to dive into this one.
This is the first of three young adult novels from New York Times best-selling author Mackenzi Lee that explores the untapped potential and duality of heroism of popular characters in the Marvel Universe.
Before the days of going toe-to-toe with the Avengers, a younger Loki is desperate to prove himself heroic and capable, while it seems everyone around him suspects him of inevitable villainy and depravity . . . except for Amora. Asgard’s resident sorceress-in-training feels like a kindred spirit-someone who values magic and knowledge, who might even see the best in him.
But when Loki and Amora cause the destruction of one of Asgard’s most prized possessions, Amora is banished to Earth, where her powers will slowly and excruciatingly fade to nothing. Without the only person who ever looked at his magic as a gift instead of a threat, Loki slips further into anguish and the shadow of his universally adored brother, Thor.
When Asgardian magic is detected in relation to a string of mysterious murders on Earth, Odin sends Loki to investigate. As he descends upon nineteenth-century London, Loki embarks on a journey that leads him to more than just a murder suspect, putting him on a path to discover the source of his power-and who he’s meant to be.

This is another one of my most highly anticipated releases written by a new to me author. I didn’t only want to highlight already known to me authors, so I’m glad there’s so much awesomeness coming our way by authors that I haven’t read yet. Gideon the Ninth is a book that I’ve been coming across more and more recently and it didn’t take me long to add it to my to read list. The synopsis looks so good and that cover as well. This is a story I really cannot wait to read! Definitely worthy of being mentioned in this list.
The Emperor needs necromancers.
The Ninth Necromancer needs a swordswoman.
Gideon has a sword, some dirty magazines, and no more time for undead bullshit.
Tamsyn Muir’s Gideon the Ninth unveils a solar system of swordplay, cut-throat politics, and lesbian necromancers. Her characters leap off the page, as skillfully animated as necromantic skeletons. The result is a heart-pounding epic science fantasy.
Brought up by unfriendly, ossifying nuns, ancient retainers, and countless skeletons, Gideon is ready to abandon a life of servitude and an afterlife as a reanimated corpse. She packs up her sword, her shoes, and her dirty magazines, and prepares to launch her daring escape. But her childhood nemesis won’t set her free without a service.
Harrowhark Nonagesimus, Reverend Daughter of the Ninth House and bone witch extraordinaire, has been summoned into action. The Emperor has invited the heirs to each of his loyal Houses to a deadly trial of wits and skill. If Harrowhark succeeds she will be become an immortal, all-powerful servant of the Resurrection, but no necromancer can ascend without their cavalier. Without Gideon’s sword, Harrow will fail, and the Ninth House will die.
Of course, some things are better left dead.

Reading the synopsis of this 12th book in my fave PNR series gives me goosebumps, every single time. Am I ready? YES and definitely NO. I have a feeling hearts are going to break all over the reading world, mine included, when reading this book because things are getting INTENSE and dangerous and dark. I am so in awe of Nalini’s story telling and the fact that she keeps on surprising me with every new release in this series. Archangel’s Prophecy, #11, was nothing short of amazing and left me aching so badly for this upcoming release, the 12th book in the series. I am scared, I am excited, I am dying a slow death while waiting for the book to being delivered on my door mat. September can’t come soon enough, it really can’t. I got aquatinted with this author’s work through reading an anthology last year that had a novella written by this author in it. Every J. Daniels fan has been waiting for this book to being written for so long. Her teasing us all about the book hasn’t made the wait any easier, lol. If you’ve read even 1 book in the Dirty Deeds series, you’ve come across Nathan Bell, and you can’t help but wanting to read his story. There’s so much sadness and heartbreak around this guy, that was so palpable in the first three books. I really, like REALLY, need him to get his HEA. I’ve probably set my expectations too high for this one, but so far Jessica hasn’t let me down yet. I have a feeling this book is going to destroy me in the best ways possible and October can’t come soon enough. I’m secretly holding out hope she’ll surprise is by releasing it early, but we’ll see. Maybe I’ll even be able to snag an ARC, if she’s going to give out ARC’s for this one. We’ll see. I’ll just wait for now and hope and prey for an ARC or for the book to release early or for it to be October really Frigging fast, lol.
Following the sudden death of his wife, Nathan Bell has spent nearly two years burying himself in work and neglecting his biggest responsibility: his daughter. Overcome with guilt, he wants to connect with little Marley, but he doesn’t know how to do it alone. And then Jenna Savage throws him a lifeline.
A single mom of twins, Jenna is more than capable of taking care of Nate’s adorable two-year-old, and wants to help Nathan however she can. Soon, attachments are made, forcing Jenna and her kids into new territory. And the closer everyone becomes, the more right it feels.
Falling in love forces Nathan to face his biggest fear, and when hearts, both big and little, are on the line, the only thing scarier than needing someone is losing them all.

I love retellings so so much. I love history and I love everything related to King Arthur and Camelot. Coming across this release some months ago was one of my highlights. This is definitely one of my most favorite yet-to-come-releases for the 2nd part of 2019. I cannot wait to see what this author did with this Arthurian Legend retelling. And omg, that cover is just to die for!!
Princess Guinevere has come to Camelot to wed a stranger: the charismatic King Arthur. With magic clawing at the kingdom’s borders, the great wizard Merlin conjured a solution–send in Guinevere to be Arthur’s wife . . . and his protector from those who want to see the young king’s idyllic city fail. The catch? Guinevere’s real name–and her true identity–is a secret. She is a changeling, a girl who has given up everything to protect Camelot.
To keep Arthur safe, Guinevere must navigate a court in which the old–including Arthur’s own family–demand things continue as they have been, and the new–those drawn by the dream of Camelot–fight for a better way to live. And always, in the green hearts of forests and the black depths of lakes, magic lies in wait to reclaim the land. Arthur’s knights believe they are strong enough to face any threat, but Guinevere knows it will take more than swords to keep Camelot free.
Deadly jousts, duplicitous knights, and forbidden romances are nothing compared to the greatest threat of all: the girl with the long black hair, riding on horseback through the dark woods toward Arthur. Because when your whole existence is a lie, how can you trust even yourself?

I’m still baffled by the fact that this first book in the series, Bring me their hearts, hasn’t gotten more attention so far. I loved it so much! I’ve bought it in pre-order last year and have been aching to get my hands on book 2 ever since I finished reading it, not long after it’s release. Unfortunately the release of book 2, Find me their bones, has been set back to November this year. It was originally supposed to come out this summer. So I’m really bummed about that. Bound to the witch Nightsinger ever since she saved her from the bandits who murdered her family, Zera longs for freedom from the woods they hide in. With her heart in a jar under Nightsinger’s control, she serves the witch unquestioningly.
Until Nightsinger asks Zera for a Prince’s heart in exchange for her own, with one addendum; if she’s discovered infiltrating the court, Nightsinger will destroy her heart rather than see her tortured by the witch-hating nobles.
Crown Prince Lucien d’Malvane hates the royal court as much as it loves him – every tutor too afraid to correct him and every girl jockeying for a place at his darkly handsome side. No one can challenge him – until the arrival of Lady Zera. She’s inelegant, smart-mouthed, carefree, and out for his blood. The Prince’s honor has him quickly aiming for her throat.
So begins a game of cat and mouse between a girl with nothing to lose and a boy who has it all.

This Adult Fantasy looks so intriguing and it’ll definitely be a book that I’m going to preorder in a couple of months. I wasn’t familiar with this author and book yet prior to discovering it on Goodreads while prowling new releases. This looks like a book that I’ll devour and I really can’t wait to find out if I’m right about my up front feelings towards it. Milla Vane is a pen name by author Meljean Brooks. Meljean’s books have been on my to read list of quite a while now as well and I’m so excited to get aquatinted with her writing.
A generation past, the western realms were embroiled in endless war. Then the Destroyer came. From the blood and ashes he left behind, a tenuous alliance rose between the barbarian riders of Parsathe and the walled kingdoms of the south. That alliance is all that stands against the return of an ancient evil—until the barbarian king and queen are slain in an act of bloody betrayal.
Though forbidden by the alliance council to kill the corrupt king responsible for his parents’ murders, Maddek vows to avenge them, even if it costs him the Parsathean crown. But when he learns it was the king’s daughter who lured his parents to their deaths, the barbarian warrior is determined to make her pay.
Yet the woman Maddek captures is not what he expected. Though the last in a line of legendary warrior-queens, Yvenne is small and weak, and the sharpest weapons she wields are her mind and her tongue. Even more surprising is the marriage she proposes to unite them in their goals and to claim their thrones—because her desire for vengeance against her father burns even hotter than his own…
For now, these are my most highly anticipated releases for the 2nd part of 2019. I’m sure there’ll be more added to this list seeing a lot of fave authors of mine, especially the Romance authors, tend to surprise us every now and then with a surprise release.
I am beyond excited to read all of these books and I cannot wait to get my hands on them
