[GUEST REVIEW BY AMANDA] Hangman by Daniel Cole (Fawkes & Baxter #2)

Holy moly. This book was off to a slow start and had me thinking it was going to be a damned long ride but boy, do I like being wrong. This was one of the most fucked up stories I have ever read. The level of intrigue and the spiderweb of ties to an act of crime so horrid, you’d hate to think this could actually be real. Pfew. I need a breather, but first, review time! How do you catch a killer who’s already dead?’ Eighteen months have passed, but the scars the Ragdoll murders left behind remain. DCI Emily Baxter is summoned to a meeting with US Special…

[BOOK REVIEW] Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare (The Last Hours #1)

“We do not get to choose when in our lives we feel pain,” said Matthew. “It comes when it comes, and we try to remember, even though we cannot imagine a day when it will release its hold on us, that all pain fades. All misery passes. Humanity is drawn to light, not darkness.” Finally. After having waited for over 6 years, when I first finished reading Clockwork Princess, Chain of Gold is here. After having read some things about the characters in already published books/novella’s in the shadowhunter chronicles, I was super stoked and ready to dive into this one and then hopefully fall in love with a new…

[BOOK REVIEW] Beneath Cruel Fathoms by Anela Deen (Bitter Sea Trilogy #1)

Today I have my review of Beneath Cruel Fathoms, the first book in the Bitter Sea trilogy that, to me, was such a fantastic read! Finishing Beneath Cruel Fathoms had me happy and sad at the same time. Happy because it was such a great read and sad because I couldn’t immediately start the second book haha. It’s a book that I thoroughly loved reading and it left me craving more after finishing it. I’m so happy to share this review with you guys and introduce you to this author and this book!   After a violent storm destroys her ship, Isaura Johansdottir knows better than to hope she’ll be…

[BOOK REVIEW] Highland Crown by May McGoldrick (Royal Highlander #1)

Back in 2018 the lovely people over at St. Martins Press offered me the opportunity to read the Highland Crown. It’s the first book in a new historical fiction romance series by a then new-to-me author. At the time I was in the mood to read some historical fiction and a Scottish one in particular so this arc couldn’t have come at a better time haha. I started reading it not long after that and wrote my review the day after finishing it. Because it was only January at the time of finishing it and the book releases today on March 26th, I decided to hold the review back until…
