The New Years Resolutions book tag is a tag in which I’ll address several subjects like which new to me author I want to read, which classic I’d like to read this year and many more.
I came across this tag over at Jenniely’s blog and enjoyed reading her article a lot! Reading her tag post had me really excited to write my own, so here we go!
An Author You’d Like To Read That You’ve Never Read
I have a feeling this tag article is going to be quite fun but also frustrating as well to write down, lol. I always have a lot of issues with choosing ‘just one’ book/author/whatever hihi.
In this case, there are so many authors I still want to discover and read. This year, I’m mostly focusing on romance authors who’ll attend the RARE event, since Im going there and I still want to read a lot of new-to-me authors of the attending list. Authors like:
- Lorelei James
- C.M. Stunich/Tate James
- Nikki Sloane
- Skye Warren
- Vi Keeland
- K.K. Allen
But there are definitely some non-RARE-authors I want to read as well this year. They are mostly authors who are releasing new books this year, like:
- Mimi Yu – the Girl King
- Roshani Chokshi – the Gilded Wolves
- Django Wexler – Ship of Smoke and Steel
- Robin Lafevers – Courting Darkness & Grave Mercy
- A.R. Caeptta/C. McCarthy – Once & Future
- Kendall Ryan – Boyfriend for Hire
- C.L. Herman – the Devouring Gray
- Olivia Wildenstein – a Pack of Blood and Lies
- K. Lupo – We are Blood and Thunder
A Book You’d Like To Read
Well, since there are so many books I want to read this year, I can’t just choose one haha. So I thought I’d show you guys my (for now) February TBR. I really hope I get around to reading these books next month! I’m almost completely finished with my January TBR, which I’m really proud of. I hope to continue checking off my pre-made TBR lists! So here are the books I want to read in February:
It’s been a while since I’ve read a classic. I had intended to read a couple of classics in 2018, but haven’t gotten around to it unfortunately. I really loved reading classics from time to time, but I have to be in the right mood, you know? I’m really hoping this year is going to be one in which I can finish some classics from my tbr! The ones I preferably want to read first are some of the ones already in my collection:
A Book You’d Like To Re-Read
Re-reading is one of my favorite things to do, so there’s really no way I could choose just one book, lol. I love re-reading for the sake of re-reading and immersing myself Again in that world I came to love so much and the characters in it.
But I also like to re-read a book whenever there’s a sequel coming out in a series for example. So there are several reasons for me to re-read as you can see. I often re-read romance books for example when I’m in need of some relaxing and just want something familiar and something I’ve loved in the past. And I always like to re-read favorites within the fantasy and paranormal romance genres as well. Those worlds and characters I came to love so much are amazing to revisit again.
At the moment, there are some plans when it comes to re-reading for this year. I really want to re-read some books in series that have new books coming out this year like re-reading book 2 in the Constellation series by Claudia Gray, since book 3 is coming out this year. Or re-reading the dark elements books by Armentrout for when the spin-off book comes out in June, and so on. And I definitely want to re-read Bring me their Hearts by Sara Wolf because I’m so excited about the release of its sequel in June.
A Book You’ve Had For Ages and Want To Read
I feel like I talked a lot about books I’ve had for ages and want to read this year because I’ve written several articles on these kind of books. My most recent one is the Top Ten Tuesday that was published two days ago, in which I put down a list of 10 books I wanted to read in 2018 but didn’t got to in the end. These are books I’ve been wanting to read for ages but yeah… You can see this list by clicking on the header image below
A Big Book You’d Like To Read
Hmm.. what IS a big book? 500+ pages, 700+ pages? I wasn’t sure if and how many big books were still on my shelves, unread so I had to look it up on my Goodreads page haha! These are some of the 500+ pages books that I still want to read, that are currently on my shelves:
- the Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson (Mistborn trilogy #1)
This one – my paperback edition – has 746 pages and is one I Definitely want to read this year.
- the Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss (the Kingkiller Chronicles #1)
This one – my paperback edition – has 662 pages and is a series I really want to start reading this year.
- Angel Fire by L.A. Weatherly (Angel #2)
This one – my paperback edition – has 720 pages and is one that has been on my shelves for years now. I’ve read the first book but it’s been a while so I want to do a re-read before continuing the series.
- the City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty (the Daevabad trilogy #1)
This one – my arc paperback edition – has 530 pages and I’ve been meaning to read this one ever since I received the arc of it in an Illumicrate box, but somehow haven’t gotten around to read yet. Really curious about this book!
An Author You’ve Previously Read and Would Like To Read More Of
O, there are So Many authors I could list here haha! There’s an article I was working on actually, in which I talk about authors I want to read more of, but who haven’t written any more books (so far).
And one of the author’s who’s on top of that list is Susan Ee! I love her Penryn and the End of Days trilogy so much and I’d love to read more by this author. Its been a couple of years now since book 3 released, without there being any news on new books, so I have no idea whatsoever of this author is going to write more books – I Really hope so though!
There are a lot of authors I came to love, who’ve written a lot more books already, that I really want to get to asap. Some of those authors are mostly (paranormal/fantasy) romance authors, lol:
- Corinne Michaels
- Sarah Castille
- Mia Sheridan
- Grace Draven
- Harper Sloan
- Marissa Clarke
- Jennifer Estep
- Jeffe Kennedy
But some YA authors as well, like:
- Marissa Meyer
- Lisa Brown Roberts
- Elle Kennedy
- Tess Sharpe
- Jodi Meadows
- Brodi Ashton
A Book You Got For Christmas and Would Like To Read

- Restore me by Tahereh Mafi (Shatter Me #4)
- Fallen Academy: Year One by Leia Stone (Fallen Academy #1)
- Pestilence by Laura Thalassa (the Four Horsemen #1)
- Dragon’s Heart by LaVerne Thompson (Story of the Brethren #1)

A Series You Want To Read From Start to Finish
A Series You Want To Finish That You’ve Already Started
So many series which I started but still need to finish. In a recent TBR ON SUNDAY article, I tell you all about them! Click on the image header below and you’ll be redirected to this article
Do You Set Reading Goals?
Yes, I set different reading goals each year.
This year, I’m trying to complete these goals in particular:
- Completing my Goodreads Reaching Challenge
- Completing my Beat the Backlist Challenge
- Finish 6 book series
- Read more Classics
- Buddy-read at least 12 books
- Get the 80% badge @ Netgalley
If So, How Many Books Do You Want To Read in 2018?
For the Goodreads Challenge I originally wanted to finish 200 books. But I don’t see that happening any time soon since I was already 4 books behind or something haha. So I decided a couple of days ago, to adjust the amount of books I wanted to read and I set it on 150.
And for the Beat the Backlist Challenge I want to read 40 books. And these books can be combined with my Goodreads Reading Goal so I’m really hoping to complete both these challenges this year!
This was a fun, sometimes challenging, tag to write down. I’m glad I came across this one and I’m thankful for you reading my article.
What new to you author do you want to read this year?
