It’s that time of the month again: BOOK-HAUL time!
I love seeing what other readers bought when reading their published hauls on their blogs and social media accounts and such, but I also like to share my own hauls. It can be a bit confronting as well, seeing how much money I spent on books each month haha. But in the end, I shouldn’t be surprised, knowing myself well enough that I don’t have any self-control whatsoever when it comes to buying books haha. Each month, I always pre-order several books and I buy regular books as well in between. Ready to see what I’ve added to the shelves this month? Here we go!
Throne of Glass USA & UK collector’s editions
Of course I had to pre-order both collector’s editions of Throne of Glass. How could I not?! Look at them being pretty *sigh.
Technically, these two books belong to the October haul, but at the time when they arrived, I had already finished putting together the book haul article and ready to be published and I was too lazy to adjust it, lol. Since these two collector’s editions weren’t due to release until November 6th I thought it would be okay as well to put them into my November haul, even though I got them on October 30th – book depository is amazing for sending me the books so early though! That was a really great surprise.
Archangel’s Prophecy by Nalini Singh
(Guild Hunter #11)
Technically this is a book that I also received at the end of October, October 31st, but due to the same problems as I had when receiving the Throne of Glass editions – the October book haul was already finished and ready to be published – I had to put it in the November haul article as well haha. I’ve been looking forward to receiving this book for months so I’m really happy it’s finally here. I ended up reading this book at the beginning of November already so I’ll be talking about it in my wrap-up one of these days.
Where I found you by Brooke O’Brien
(Heart’s Compass #1)
I had the honor of reviewing this book back before its release date in May 2017. I fell in love with this debut novel by Brooke so much and I’ve been wanting to buy the printed copy for ages. When I had to place an order over at Amazon at the end of October I decided to finally buy the printed copy of this book and here it is. I already re-read the book in November as well and can’t wait to get my hands on the second book in the series and re-read it in printed edition too, since I’ve read that one as an e-arc as well back in the day.
The Highlander’s Touch by D.K. Combs
I fell in love so so much with another book written by this author some time ago: Atlantis; the King’s return. And I’ve been wanting to read more books by this author ever since, but I never got around to buy them. So I decided to put it in my Amazon order at the end of October as well. This is yet again a book I also finished reading this month and I’ll be talking about it a bit more in my upcoming Wrap-up article.
The Mortal Instruments Graphic Novel Volume 2
by Cassandra Clare and Cassandra Jean(Illustrator)
I’m a huuuuge Shadowhunter fangirl and I love collecting multiple editions of Cassandra Clare’s books. Alongside collecting different editions, I also love collecting graphic novels/maga’s of favorite books. So of course, I couldn’t pass up on pre-ordering Volume 2 of the TMI graphic novel. I loved reading the first Volume and fell in love with Volume 2 as well, which I’ve already read this month. These graphic novels are such a great addition to the shadowhunter collection and I feel like every fan should buy and read them! Already can’t wait to get my hands on Volume 3.
Hounded by Kevin Hearne
(Iron Druid Chronicles #1)
I found out I had some money left on my online CC and of course I couldn’t just not spent it, right? lol. So I bought this book called Hounded, which is the first book in the Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne. I’ve had this one on my Goodreads tbr for ages and I’m really curious about it! Have you read it? Love to hear what you thought of this book. It’s always exciting and scary as well to start reading new-to-me-series since I don’t want them to disappoint hihi.
Hot & Bothered by Elle Kennedy
(Out of Uniform #1-3)
I haven’t read that much by Elle Kennedy yet but what I’ve read has been so addicting. I loved the Deal for example, with the school settings and such and I was pleasantly surprised by Claimed as well, which turned out to be so much hotter as what I was expecting haha. And the Out of Uniform series is about military man so I HAD to read these stories! The first 3 stories are bundled together and I cannot wait to read them, hopefully soon. Elle Kennedy is one of the attending RARE London authors so I’m really excited about meeting her next year!
Hartendief op Pootjes by Melinda Matz
(Original: Talk to the Paw)
I came across this book over on Instagram a while ago and it looked like a fun read. But it’s one of those reads that I wouldn’t prioritize to buy first you know? Maybe someday… But as it happened, I walked into a store earlier this month, where this Dutch copy of the book was being sold for just €7! So of course, I couldn’t pass up on the opportunity of buying it. Hope to read it soon. It looks like it’d be a really fun read!
Skyward by Brandon Sanderson
I haven’t read that much of this author yet but what I’ve read so far, was really awesome. So when this YA book was announced and I’ve read the synopsis, I immediately knew I wanted to buy this book. There are two stunning cover editions to be found and I chose this UK hardcover edition in the end – the other cover edition has Merwild art on it which is so stunning as well so if I end up loving this book, I’ll be buying that edition too, lol – because to me it was slightly better than the other one haha. I cannot wait to dive into this book and hope to finish it before the end of the year.
Sanctuary by Caryn Lix
As soon as I came across this YA scifi book, thanks to a friend of mine, I knew this one had to be bought. It sounds like it’s my kind of read and I’m really excited to read it, hopefully soon. I got this stunning hardcover edition via the Bookdepository. I placed an order there to buy some books for friends for Christmas, and I thought this HC edition was neatly priced, so I couldn’t stop myself from buying it haha.
the Darkest Star by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I received a signed copy of this book in the darkest star pre-order box I bought from the Bookish Shop months ago. The box was delivered mid November and alongside the book, it came with some other awesome Lux and the darkest Star inspired merchandise as you can see in my full unboxing article
Mijn verhaal : Becoming by Michelle Obama
This one was very high upon my wishlist. I know that as a not-American I see things differently when it comes to American politics and I definitely don’t have a right to get opinionated on a lot of things regarding American politics. I’m not impacted by presidents and their influence as Americans are, but I can’t help feeling respect towards the Obama family. There’s something about them that feels so inspiring to me. They give off this vibe of being genuine and caring and I respect them for it. Michelle’s story is one Ive been really interested in reading ever since finding out she was publishing this book. My husband and son surprised me one day by bringing home this Dutch edition of the book. I was planning on buying the EN hardcover, but this Dutch edition is quite awesome as well I think, with the flaps in the front and back, showcasing pictures inside of them – don’t have a picture of that, sorry. I hope to get around to start reading this one soon!
the Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle
The Last Unicorn is for a lot of readers probably an already well known middle-grade that a lot of you have probably read in their childhood years. It’s a book that I hadn’t heard of before until last year when and it looks like it’s a book that I just had to have in my collection and have to read at some point. Who doesn’t want to read about unicorns?! When prowling on my regular Dutch Webshop months ago, I came across the pre-order of this 50th I believe? anniversary edition and I knew this was The edition I wanted to add to my collection. The book was originally first published in 1968 so there were a lot of different editions printed over the years but this is definitely one of the most beautiful ones I came across I think. It’s a hardback edition and it has the most stunning artwork throughout the book.
| E-BOOK HAUL |
Aside from my printed book haul, I also bought and received some e-books. Most of them are e-arcs sent to me by publishers and/or authors to review. I’m so excited to read and review these (some of them have been read already and reviews will go online soon)
- LINES by Anna B. Doe
- Seasons of Sorcery by Amanda Bouchet, Jeffe Kennedy, Grace Draven & Jennifer Estep
- Ghosts of the Shadow Market #1-8 by Cassandra Clare and others
- HOTSHOT DOC by R.S. Grey
| CONCLUSION |
I added 13 physical books and 10 e-books to my collection in November so I think it has been a great month again. I’m really with all the new beauties I got to add to my shelves and kindle.
What books did you add to your collection in October? Which one are you the happiest with and what books are you hoping to add to your collection in December? Love to hear from you and thank you for reading my blog post!
