[BOOKHAUL] May 2019

So, it’s been a while since I last posted anything on the blog hihi. I thought posting a book haul would be a good re-introduction.

I received some pretty cool books in May if I say so myself. Most of them are Young Adult, but there are some adult books in there as well. Curious to see what I added to my collection? Continue reading…

#1 Dark Shores

Dark Shores was a book that I’ve been looking forward to receive for months. When I first came across this book when looking at upcoming releases, the cover immediately intrigued me. When reading the synopsis then, it was abundantly clear: I needed that book in my life! I already read it in May and I really loved it. Cannot wait to get my hands on the sequel. This was my first introduction to this author and she’s definitely become one of my new fave authors!

#0.5, #1, #2 & #3

So when I came across this author’s prior written series, the Malediction trilogy, I decided to buy Stolen Songbird, the first book, and see what I’ll think of it. It was clear to me, very early on, that this series could become a fave of mine. Seeing as to how much I was enjoying Stolen Songbird, I immediately bought the rest of the series as well, including the prequel book ‘the Broken Ones’. I’m currently reading Warrior Witch, book 3 in the series, and I’ve immensely enjoyed reading these books. They are fantastic! Danielle’s writing is amazing and I couldn’t recommend these books enough! Series review will follow soon.

#1 Aurora Rising

the Illuminae Files was one of my first introductions to YA Sci-Fi books and I fell in love HARD with the writing of these two authors. The Illuminae Files is one of my all-time faves, so when Jay and Amie announced there was going to be another Sci-Fi series, I was beyond excited. And now the time has come, that the first book in that new series, Aurora Rising, has been released.

It was released early on in May but since I knew I would get the book in my May Illumicrate box, I had to have patience, lol. The box comes towards the end of the month, so it was kind of brutal to come across all the awesome aurora rising book hauls, when my copy wasn’t on it’s way yet, lol.

But… This stunning edition was so worth the wait, right?! It has an exclusive pink dust jacket and matching pink sprayed edges! And it comes with autographs from both authors. I cannot express how happy I am with this book! It’s so frigging stunning! Hope I can dive into this one very soon!

#1 a Chorus of Dragons

One of the readers in a book topic on a forum was talking about this book and it sounded so intriguing. I haven’t read an adult fantasy in a while, but I have a weak spot for dragons so if I know there’s dragons, I just have to buy it, lol. There are different cover editions to be found but I thought the red one looked so cool and I’m really glad that I went with this one in the end.

#2 The Glass Spare

Since I started reading the first book in this duology, the Glass Spare, and ended up really loving it, I just had to buy it’s sequel right away so I could finish the story. I am in love with the stunning covers of these books!

#2 Montague Siblings

Even though I haven’t read the first book, a Gentlemen’s Guide to Vice and Virtue, yet I couldn’t resist buying this book since it was so well priced on Amazon. And I’ve heard you can read them separately so maybe I’ll even read this book first since it looks so interesting hihi. I love the purple elements in this cover and the spines of this one and the first book are so awesome!

#1 The Murderbot Diaries

I came across the Murderbot Diaries by accident but since I really want to read more Sci-Fi and the synopsis of this one looked so good, I decided to buy it. Upon arrival I saw it was quite thin though – I hadn’t checked out the amount of pages. But being a thin book doesn’t have to be a negative thing, because I’ve read some really well written thin books. But I just favor reading books that have at least 300 pages, lol. But we’ll see. I really like the looks of the cover. I’ve heard and read great things about this series, so I hope I’ll be one of the readers who ends up loving the books as well.

#1 The Stormlight Archive

I’ve read some of Sanderson’s YA over the years, which I really loved and I am really excited to read some of his more adult fantasy series as well. I own the mistborn trilogy, have started reading book 1 but still haven’t finished it yikes. And now I have bought a new book already, lol. But I heard great things about the Stormlight Archive books and I couldn’t resist buying the first one because I really want to read it this year. I love how this black/white/red paperback editions matches my black/white/blue mistborn books. I think it’ll look quite awesome when all the Sanderson books are complete on my shelves in these paperback editions.

#1 Guild Hunter

If you don’t know it yet, the Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh is probably my most favorite PNR (Paranormal Romance) series. I’ve read this first book in the series, Angel’s Blood, at least 5 times already and the entire series (the books that have been published so far) at least twice. There are different cover editions for the series and I own a complete set of 1 but I really want to collect the other set, the mass market paperback editions, as well. So when I came across the MMP edition of Angel’s blood for a really nice price on Amazon, I decided to buy it right away. Can’t wait to have the collection of these editions complete as well!

Aside from my printed book haul, I also received some e-arcs this month for which I’m very thankful to the authors and publishers.

  • Coldhearted Boss by R.S. Grey | an ARC I received from the author herself. She is the Queen of RomCom and I can’t recommend her books enough! This book releases TODAY, June 6th, so I’d definitely recommend you to go buy it if you love RomCom!
  • Scarlet Mark by Lexi C. Foss | an ARC I received for which I’m so very thankful. Lexi is one of my all-time fave authors, whether she’s writing paranormal books or contemporary romance or whatever really. I’ve started reading the book, but haven’t gotten that far yet, but as always, the writing is awesome.
  • No Heartbreaker required by Joann Sky | an ARC I received from the publisher through net galley. I had the opportunity to read an ARC of the first book in this romance series, which was really enjoyable. Hope this one is going to be fun as well!
  • Breakout by A.M. Rose | a YA Scifi/Dystopian that really held my interest right from the moment I saw the cover and read the synopsis. I’m so excited to read this book!

I got to add 12 physical copies to my collection and 4 digital copies. Definitely a haul I’m happy about. From these 18 books in total, I’ve finished reading 7 and I’m currently reading 2 of them. I hope I get around to read the rest soon as well.

What books did you add to your collection in February? Which one are you the happiest with and what books are you hoping to add to your collection next month? Love to hear from you and thank you for reading my blog post!
