Crush the King by Jennifer Estep is the 3rd installment in the amazing Crown of Shards series that I’ve loved! Crush the King was a fun read yet again but I do mind the extreme open end. I know Jennifer’s going to write a spin-off series, which I’m Super excited about but I do remain hopeful and that we’ll get a #4 in this series as well! I’m glad the trilogy is complete now because the three books look so pretty together. You can read my review of the first ook in the series, Kill the Queen, HERE < Must read imo!
And of course I had to get my hands on Rebecca’s newest book: Great and Precious Things. I put in a pre-order for it months before the release but my bookdepository order never came in because my house number wasn’t correctly put on. I’ve waited until mid-march (the book release mid february) before I gave up and ordere it somewhere else. Not long after I got it, I read it and it was a truly wonderful read that I highly recommend to any romance lover out there, specifically if you already love Rebecca’s other work!
The cover of Monstrous Heart by Claire McKenna is what lured me in, in the first place. I came across this book over on Bookstagram and after having read the synopsis I decided I wanted to get it myself as well. I hope to get around to read this book soon! What is being said about this book > This is gothic, epic, romantic fantasy at its very best; a tale of magic, intrigue on dangerous waters and a love story for the ages.
All the Stars and Teeth by Adalyn Grace is a young adult fantasy series with pirates. The synopsis of the book hits all the right spots and looks to be 100% my kind of read. I cannot wait to dive into this one, hopefully soon!
Beneath Cruel Fathoms by Anela Deen is the first book in a fantasy romance series that stole my breath away when I read an arc of it in 2019 – it was one of my favorite reads last year. Of course, I had to get my hands on a printed copy. I can’t wait to do a re-read of this one soon. Review on this book can be found >> HERE.
The Black Witch by Laurie Forest has been on my wishlist for some years now. I kept hearing great things about this book, mostly from my friend Marie, and seeing she indulged in buying books I recommended I thought it was past time that I finally got this one haha. It’s thicker than I expected < love that. Can’t wait to see if this one is going to live up to its expectations, I really hope so!
The Kresova Vampire Harems books by Gracely Knox & D.D. Miers have been on my wishlist for a while. I came across a giveaway the authors hosted last year on instagram and was one of the lucky winners! It took a while for the book to get here seeing it had to go via both authors (because it’s Signed by both, squeeeeeel!) and then make its way to the Netherlands from the US. I cannot wait to dive into this volume. It has vampires and it has harem romance so that has me really excited! I’ve read books by Graceley before which I loved and can’t wait to see what D.D. Miers’ writing is like as well!
Wuthering Heights by Emily Brönte is a book I’ve read before (digitally) and was really intruiged by. I’ve been wanting to add a beautiful print copy to my collection but hadn’t come across one that I was really in love with. Then I came across the beautiful Cilthren Classics editions and I was sold. It’s such a beautiful edition; it has shining embossing on the cover, the size of the hardcover is really cute and a bit smaller and it has gold sprayed edges.
The Graphic novel adaption of ‘Het Achterhuis’ by Anne Frank has been on my wishlist ever since it was released. I never got around to buy it until I came across the book when I was in a shop last week that also sells some books. I was planning to buy a book there anyway, to support the locals, so I was extremely happy when I saw they were selling this one. I started reading it the same day and finished a couple of hours later < what a read!! Review on this book will follow.
I was excited to see From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout being published. I immediately bought a copy for myself and a friend of mine, to gift to her. When it arrived I read it right away and it was a truly enjoyable read! Full review on this book can be found >> HERE.
Of course I got myself a copy of Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare. I’ve been waiting for more than 6 years for this book to get here. I also ordered the illumicrate special edition box but that hasn’t arrived yet. This book felt like coming home when reading it and I think it’s also one of the most beautiful shadowhunter covers to date, what say you? Full review on this book can be found >> HERE.
And a new Sarah J. Maas release has to be bought as well so I’m happy I got to add Crescent City to my shelves. It was fun to get familiar with a new world, new story-line and new characters and can’t wait to read the next installment in this series!
I’m a bit behind on buying and reading Christina Lauren books. I really like reading their books though so when I had the chance, I put in a pre-order for their newest release, the Honey-Don’t List. I’m excited to read another book by these two great authors.
Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston is a book I’ve come across so often. I had it on my radar before it’s release but kind of forgotten about it. I bought myself a copy recently and then had the opportunity to do a buddy read of this book with Marie & Candyce so at the moment I’m reading this one and it’s a fun read!
Olympus at War & The new Olympians by Kate O’ Hearn are book #2 and #3 in the Pegasus series. I got the first book for Chistmas and recently fell in love with it when I read it. I came across book 2 and 3 for a price that I couldn’t resist so can’t wait to continue the series. I had started with book 2, but some other reads came in between, so I hope to finish it soon. And I can’t get over how beautiful the covers And spines are of these hardcover editions. I am truly in love and can’t wait to add more books by this author to my shelves. Review of book 1 can be found >> HERE.
Deeplight by Frances Hardinge is one I just couldn’t resist. The cover lured me in right away and when I read the synopsis I was sold. I splurged and got a copy that was delivered today. I own another book by this author that I’m really curious about as well, Fly by Night. Hopefully I get around to read one of them soon. I couldn’t resist showing you guys a picture of the naked hardback as well. It’s so stunning too!
Aside from my printed book haul, I also added a lot of digital books to my Kindle. I added 64 free books to my Kindle, available through Amazon, which I showed you guys earlier this month in a separate book haul article. You can read it >> HERE.
Aside from the Free Amazon books, I also got these e-ARC’s, provided by authors and/or publishers in exchange for me leaving an honest review of the book after reading it ⇓
Nobody but you by Megan Green is her newest release. This is such a delightful read. If you like Single Dad romances, fantastic characters; the ones you really connect and fall in love with, and beautiful writing… Then this is the book you need to pick up next! Megan is one of my favorite Romance authors!
I was so excited to receive an arc of Issued by Paris Wynters, the first book in the Navy Seals of Little Creek series. This is Paris’ second book and it was such a fantastic read!! I’ve loved her first one, Hearts unleashed, so much and have been eagerly waiting to read another book written by her ever since. Issued is what you want to pick up next if you love want to get familiar with an author who has a beautiful writing style, who in this book writes about an arranged marriage romance, and this one has a truly beautiful and insanely sexy romance, and characters are ones you’re destined to fall in love with.
The Tourist Attraction by Sarah Morgenthaler is a book I couldn’t resist requesting when I came upon it on Netgalley. I was lucky enough to get an arc of it and can’t wait to dive in. I’ll probably start it later tonight!
Trouble Next Door by Stefanie London was a READ NOW on Netgalley; a book that was published back in 2017. This one looks like it’s a perfect match for when I’m in a romance read. I also really love a neighbour-romance so this overall just looks perfect for me.
I was so HYPED when the publisher set Dark Skies by Danielle L. Jensen as a READ NOW book on Netgalley. Dark Skies was one of my most highly anticipated 2020 releases so I was over the moon about being able to read an e-arc of it. I’ve read it and it’s my favorite read this far! Review will follow soon!
Starbreaker by Amanda Bouchet was gifte to me by Amanda herself > she’s the the best! It took me longer than I wanted to, before starting this read and finishing it because I’ve been in such a bad mood the past couple of months. I finished the book recently and it was a solid 5 star read for me. What a fantastic read and the perfect follow up to Nightchaser! Review will follow soon! Starbreaker released on April 28th so I’d highly recommend getting yourself a copy!
I was determined to not add more arcs to my shelves this month, but yesterday I added War of Kings and Monsters by Christopher Keene to the Kindle after having given a chance to receive an arc. I just couldn’t resist. It looks good!!
The Hollow Gods by A.J. Vrana is an adult fantasy Horror book. I haven’t read adult horror much. I do like YA horror from time to time, but the promise of this synopsis is so good I think that I couldn’t resist getting an arc of this one. It’s the first book in duology by a new to me author.
I love re-tellings. I looooove Robin Hood re-tellings, so when I came across this one a while ago I got really excited about it and I was able to get my hands on an arc. The Ghosts of Sherwood by Carrie Vaughn revisits the Robin Hood legend with a story of the famed archer’s children and I can’t wait to read it!
Beholden by Dr. Rebecca Sharp is a book I just also couldn’t resist haha. I’ve been wanting to read something by this author for a while so when I got the opportunity to read this upcoming release, I took it. The synopsis looks like this one is going to be 100% my kind of read.
After having fallen in love with Anela Deen’s writing when reading Beneath Cruel Fathoms, I couldn’t pass up on the opportunity to be a part of her review team, because I am so excited to read more by this author. That means that I definitely can’t wait to dive into these 3 novella’s by her that are part of the Magic Underground anthologies. A Veil is Parted, When day fades into Night and Through a Valley of White Mist are fantasy reads set in a world that sounds so interesting and fantastic and the story-line is promising as well. I really can’t wait to explore this world and meet the characters.
SYNOPSIS FOR A VEIL IS PARTED

Meeting with the troll king in secret is the only hope for a ceasefire. When the trolls ambush him instead, Simith flees through a doorway hidden by magic into another world. Wounded, he’ll need to defeat his pursuers and get home before anyone realizes he’s gone. If his commanders find out what he’s been up to, the trolls will be the least of his worries.
In Skylark, Michigan, Jessa leaves a party after some devastating news. Cutting through her neighbor’s sunflower farm, she runs into a fight between creatures straight out of a fantasy novel – only the blood is very real. When one of them falls to his attackers, Jessa decides to intervene. She’s known too much death to stand idly by, but what does a poet like her know about fighting? As their weapons turn against her, Jessa realizes how much she stands to lose, even for someone who’s already lost everything.
I added 17 printed copies to my shelves in March and April combined and A LOT of digital books, lol. 64 Free Amazon books and 12 e-arcs. It’s safe to say I got spoiled and that I’m a lucky bookhoarder, lol. Of the printed copies I’ve read 9/16 books (not all were read after receiving them because some I’ve read digitally in the past) and from the e-arcs I finished reading 4/12.
