[BOOKHAUL] January 2019

It’s the end of the month so this means I’ll look back to what books I bought and/or received. It’s time to show you guys my January BOOKHAUL, whoop whoop!

I’ve bought/received more books than I originally anticipated hihi. Most of the books are romance but there are a couple of ya fantasy books to be found in this haul as well. I am so excited to show you guys what I got to add to my collection this month. Here we go!

#2 Devil’s Rock

I’ve read the first book in this series at the beginning of 2018, February I believe, and loved it a lot. I was really excited to continue with this series but just haven’t gotten around to do so yet. Came across #2 for a good price and decided to buy it this month. I’m hoping to get around to reading it soon. Before starting the Devil’s Rock series, I’ve only known this author by reading her Young Adult books, but I’m glad I started reading her adult romance books as well!

Mu hubby surprised me with this one earlier this month. He came across it somewhere online and bought it for me because he knows how much I love this tv show – he has bought me numeral of friends merchandise as well over the years. Isn’t he THE BEST? I think so haha!

#2 Endeavour

I had the opportunity, thanks to Amanda herself – I’ll be forever grateful – to read an arc of Nightchaser. So I already read it a couple of months ago and put a review online, which you can read HERE, but of course I also had to buy the finished copy of the book.

I decided to buy the UK edition first because I own the kingmaker Chronicles in these editions as well and I am just OBSESSED with this cover edition haha. But I can’t wait to also add the other cover edition to my shelves as well someday – I’m collecting the kingmaker chronicles in the other edition as well. It’s a certainty that I’ll be re-reading this amazing Sci-Fi romance book sometime this year. It’s just awesome!

#3 Texting

I started reading this author some months ago – she’s an RARE event attending author so my friend Kaylee and I wanted to read her books before then so we could get aquatinted with her work – and fell in love HARD.

Since then, I’ve been buying the printed copies one by one, to add them to my collection because this is an author I want to re-read and definitely want to meet at the signing event to have some books signed.

I love covers like this one, with the dark background and the title in color. I am quite obsessed really with the covers in this series haha. This is the third book in the series and I’m planning to read it in February. This series is a must-read! You can read a review of book 1, Lets get textual, HERE. Or well, review… it’s me in fangirl-modus actually, lol.

#1 Dragon Stone saga

I started reading this author because one of my faves, Amelia Hutchins, recommended her work and she’s also attending the RARE event in London this year. I started by reading her wicked kingdom series, which I loved so much! I really want to read more by her so I bought this first book in the dragon stone saga earlier this month through amazon and can’t wait to start reading it. It’s quite thin though comparing to her wicked kingdom books for example, so I’m quite curious now how the depth and development is going to be like in this book.

#2 Animal Attraction

I had the opportunity to review this book last year, so I received an arc and ended up loving this book so much! So there was no doubt in my mind about buying this one someday. This was my first Marissa Clarke read, and I can’t wait to read more! This is definitely a recommended book if you’re into romance and love the presence of animals, in this case a huge slobbering dog hihi. You can read my review on this book HERE. I can’t wait to do a re-read of this story, hopefully soon!

Helena Hunting has been a fave author of mine for some time now. I’ve devoured her PUCKED series, the clipped wings books and the good Luck Charm, but there are still some that I haven’t read yet, Shacking up being one of them. It has been on my wishlist for so long and earlier this month, I finally ordered it and I am so excited to read it, hopefully soon! It’s a thicker book than expected, so that has me even more excited haha.

I received the first book in this series, SEAL of Honor, for Christmas and read it in December already as well. I ended up loving it so much. This is definitely my kind of series! I love the military elements, the romance, the suspense and the writing so much. The characters are so lovable and I can’t wait to continue with the series. Each book focuses on other characters, but the books are interconnected so we’ll see characters returning in each others books, which is something I really like. I am so excited to read it and put it on my February TBR.

#1 the Wells of Sorcery

This is one of the few Young Adult books I bought this month. I put this one in pre-order months ago. Every since coming across this book for the first time and reading the synopsis, I’ve been looking forward to its release. I am so excited about it and can’t wait to find out what I’ll think of it.

And that cover is so frigging badass. love it, love it, love it!!

#1 Beaumont

I was really curious about this one and it has been on my wishlist for a while. This author is going to attend the RARE event so when I got the chance to buy it, I did. I finished this one a couple of days ago. I thought it was an ok read, but not as special as I hoped it’d be. I am still curious about the rest of the series though because there were definitely some elements about this authors writing that I really loved.

I read this book on my kindle when I received an arc of it and I wanted to buy this printed copy right after its release but hadn’t gotten around to do so yet. Thankfully I was able to buy it this month. Rachel Grey is one of the best, if not The best, authors when it comes to writing RomCom books, in my opinion. Each new book keeps exceeding my expectations and this one was no exception. I loved it so so much and cannot wait to do a re-read of it!

I recommend this authors work to ANYONE who’s into romance, likes a good laugh, great characters and the most magnificent romances! This is an author you want to read if you like loosing yourself in a book, if you are able to read a book in one-sitting because that’s what you want to do when starting one.

#1 a Curse so Dark and Lonely

And then this beauty released at the end of the month. You’ve probably seen me raving about it already on one of my social media pages or in my review that I posted a while ago. This book… This  was everything I could’ve wanted in a Beauty and the Beast retelling and MORE. It exceeded my every expectation and I can’t recommend it enough.

This book ended up on my all-time favorite list, regardless which genre I’m talking about. I am so in love with it and I’m so happy that I now have the finished copy on my shelves. I really hope I get around to re-read it soon as well! You can read my review on this book HERE.

(Disney animated Classic)

My hubby bought me the two animated classic editions of Snow White and the seven dwarfs & Sleeping Beauty for Christmas, which I was sooo extremely happy about. These editions have the most stunning soft feeling hardcovers and the story is accompanied with pictures and original drawings from the Disney studios. First drafts and things like that are being showed and that’s just awesome I think.

So when I saw that there’d be one for the Little Mermaid as well, which is my all-time favorite Disney fairytale, I had to put in a pre-order. And my god, it’s even more stunning than I could’ve imagined beforehand.

There’s so much detail to be found on the cover and the inside is just frigging stunning as well. I love the front and back ends pages, but the drawings throughout the entire book as well. It’s so much fun to see some of the earlier drafts they drew back in the day and things like that. I can’t wait to read my favorite story all over again. This is a story that has been with me throughout all my life and I can’t put into words how special it is to me!

Aside from my printed book haul, I also received some e-books. I haven’t bought any e-books myself this month, so all of these are e-arcs, which were sent to me by publishers and/or authors to review.

  • Armed ‘N Ready by Tee O’Fallon: this one is already read and my review will go online soon!
  • Heartbreaker by Inara Scott: this is my current read on the Kindle and it’s a really fun read so far!

I got to add 13 physical copies to my collection and 2 digital copies. Definitely a haul I’m so happy with. Thankfully most of the books that I have read of these were amazing reads and the ones I haven’t read yet are ones I really hope to get around to read soon.

What books did you add to your collection in January? Which one are you the happiest with and what books are you hoping to add to your collection next month? Love to hear from you and thank you for reading my blog post!

I try not to think too much on RARE and the authors sometimes, because it’ll drive me nuts with How many authors are attending and me just not being able to read all of them before September, lol. I try to at least buy some books of a RARE author each month and to read a couple of them as well, and then I’ll buy some new to me author books when I’m at the event, lol.

Deviant looks like a great read indeed *adds it to her wishlist

My hubby came across these a couple of months before Christmas and put in pre-orders for them and then put them underneath the tree. I’m so happy he found them! There are more coming our way as well; Dumbo and Aladdin are next up in April and May <3!!! Can you imagine an entire Disney collection of them? The price for the books is doable as well I think. they're €11 over on book depository for example. They're quite thin of course, but still... they're hardcovers and all that.

Yay! BRIGID KEMMERER will be at an event in March, ApollyCon 2019, and I was wondering which book of hers I should read prior to meeting her, so now, thanks to you, I have one!
