[BOOK REVIEW] the Off-Season by Megan Green (Washington Rampage #1)

The first book in the Washington Rampage series is a really fun and fast-paced sports romance read. Ready to meet Ian ‘Tag’ Taggert, one of the hottest baseball players out there?

– SYNOPSIS –

He had it all…

The day Ian “Tag” Taggart’s world comes crashing down around him, he’s sitting in a fast food drive-thru, waiting for an order of fries. Golden boy of the MLB and shortstop for the Washington Rampage, Tag quickly finds himself losing grip on his superstar life with the use of two awful words: sexual assault.

The only problem? He’s innocent.

Tag’s willing to do anything to prove to the world he’d never commit the crime he’s been accused of. So when his agent suggests taking a break from the spotlight, he listens. The quiet town on Maple Lake is everything Seattle isn’t. And Lexi Barnes is everything he wasn’t expecting to find.

Running from a past she can never escape, Lexi wants nothing to do with her new neighbor. But fixing up an old house takes more work than anticipated, and the new guy in town happens to have quite the set of carpentry skills. She won’t let herself fall for him though. She has no room in her life for love.

If only someone would tell her heart that.

He’s funny and charming. She’s closed off and rude.
Together, they’re like fire and ice.
Prepare to get burned this Off-Season.

3.75 stars for this incredibly sweet and beautiful contemporary romance.

The story-line was fun to read and whilst there aren’t really any unpredictable twists or whatsoever, it was still a really enthralling and addictive read. Mostly thanks to the writing I think. I loved the writing! I was hooked onto this story right away and wanted to finish it in one sitting.

The characters are fun to read about and I always love reading from both POV’s so that’s always a plus.

The romance was beautifully developed and written and I loved seeing Lexi ‘open up’ to Ian. Ian was such a sweetheart and he made my heart beat faster a lot of times – crush material, ladies, really.

The minor characters were fun to read about as well even though we didn’t see a lot of them. And I’m really excited to read the next book in the series, hopefully soon so I can continue reading about these hot baseball players hehe. The synopsis of the second book sounds like it’s going to be drama-filled but I’m really excited at the same time since I liked Liv and Brandon as minor characters in this first book. So that’s definitely something to look forward too.

If you’re into romance reads in which some – not a lot in this first book – sports elements are present, in which really likable characters are present, in which great writing is present and of course; in which a really well and beautifully developed romance – it’s a romance book so that’s an important part of the book right!? – is present, this is definitely a book I’d recommend you give a go.

It really is! All three of the books in the series. Megan’s writing is so enthralling and they’re all fast-paced reads. If you ever get around to read one of them, I’m exciting to hear what you think of them 🙂
