[BOOK REVIEW] Four letter Word by J. Daniels (Dirty Deeds #1)

Today I’m sharing a review for a book that has been one of my favorite 2018 reads. Four letter word is the first book in the Dirty Deeds series by Jessica Daniels. I got aquatinted with this author’s work through some friends of mine who were so excited about her books.

When I started reading her books myself, I understood why they love Jessica’s books so much. Jessica is one of the new to me authors in 2018 who ended up on my all-time favorite list! Seldom have I come across a romance author who reeled me in with her words like Jessica does!

Four letter word is definitely one of my favorite books that I’ve read by this author so far – I’ve read all of the Alabama Summer books and all of the Dirty Deed books that have been published so far – and I’m really excited to share this review on the blog with you!

Fate. Hate. Love. Lies.

Which four letter word will change their lives forever?

Sydney Paige was never so mortified to hear the words “wrong number” in her life. She meant to tell off the guy who broke her best friend’s heart but unleashed her anger on a perfect stranger instead. And now her world is turned upside down by the captivating man who wants to keep her on the line.

Brian Savage is living a life he’s quickly come to hate-until Sydney’s wild rant has him hooked and hungry for more. Soon the sexy woman on the phone becomes the lover in his bed. But Brian has secrets, and the closer he lets Syd get, the harder it is to shield her from the devastating mistakes of his past . . .

5++ stars for this amazing book. Just… holy cr*ap, this is such a powerful book! It shook me to my core. It’s filled with heartbreak and loss and sadness and so much beauty, love, and hope at the same time.

You don’t question perfect moments.
You let them happen.
So I did. – Sydney

The characters are magnificent, main and minor ones. Sydney is such a great heroine to follow. I loved how strong she was, even though she definitely has her moments of wanting to give up. She feels so real and finding a connection with her was the easiest thing I’d ever done.

“You are a dream, Brian Savage,” I repeated, dropping my head until our foreheads touched. “You’re my dream. The most amazing person I’ve ever known, and I’m going to heal you. I am, and you’re not going to be able to stop me so don’t even bother trying. This is happening. It’s my turn. You healed me and now I’m healing you. I’m going to do it. I’m going to make sure you’re okay … I’m going to give you Wild for the rest of your life and so much of it you won’t have room to feel anything else.”

But especially Brian was so beautifully written I think. His development is heartbreaking and so so beautiful. He is such a beautiful broken man and his motives for doing what he has been doing for the past years has your heartbreaking for him. Him finding Sydney who’ll turn his world upside down in the best way possible was such a beautiful journey to experience. I think Brian has even become my favorite J. Daniels man whom I’ve read about so far. Did I say that just now? *shrugs* yes I definitely did hehe. Brian is EVERYTHING.. so precious!

My world was one miserable mistake-shaping second after another, except for the breaks in my misery that belonged to her. And no way was I ready to give that up. Best two and a half weeks of my life came from a girl who was never meant to give me anything. And she was giving me everything.”- Brian

The writing is so good, as always. Daniels really knows how to balance everything out perfectly; the story, the characters and their development, their romance and the sexy times. It’s addictive, utterly addictive from the very first page to the last.

“Wanna set your whole fucking world on fire, babe,
‘cause that’s what you’ve done to mine.”

A bit more about the relationship/romance development between Sydney and Brian: I love how they start off being friends, even though it’s through text and them not seeing each other in real life. I can tell from own experiences that talking to people through phone and text can develop into something really special and that SPECIAL was definitely palpable in this story. I love how their romance develops even more when they do finally come face to face with one another. Everything that follows after that is just so heartbreakingly beautiful. These two characters and their romance are the embodiment of EVERYTHING I love to come across in contemporary romance books.

“I want to see you. I want to see how you smile and feel your hands against mine. I want to lie next to you and dream with you and I can’t. I’ll…I’ll never have that.” “I lie next to you every night. Don’t you know that?”
I sobbed hard into my hand. My devoured heart reached for him.
“You got me, babe. Fuck…you’ve had me.”

Safe to say that I LOVED this first book in the Dirty Deeds series so so much. J. Daniels never disappoints, ever. Her Alabama Summer series is such a magnificent series – those were my first J. Daniels reads – but Four Letter Word had me falling even more in love with her writing and the amazing characters she created – if that was even possible – and I have a feeling that this series is going to be a favorite of mine as well!

Brian and Sydney’s story touched my heart and soul. I’d definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a beautiful love story with some hot AF steamy moments! Daniels wrote down a heartbreaking novel filled with hilarious and passionate moments that made me laugh so hard and had me tingling in anticipation. I laughed, ached, swooned, cried and felt so much love while reading this book. This book gutted me in the best ways possible. ALL THE FRIGGIN’ FEELS!

This author has rapidly become one of my all-time favorite authors and I can’t recommend her books enough!
