Resisting her only makes him want her more…

Private investigator Billy Parrish is good at three things—fighting, investigating, and sex. MMA training with the other vets in the Warrior Fight Club keeps his war-borne demons at bay—mostly, and one night stands ensure no one gets too close. But then his best friend from the Army Rangers calls in a favor.

Shayna Curtis is new to town and full of hope for the future. With a new job starting, she’s grateful when her brother arranges a place for her to stay while she apartment hunts. But she never expected her roommate to be so brooding. Or so sexy.

Billy can’t wait for Shay to leave—because the longer she’s there, the more he wants her in his bed. To stay. He can’t have her—that much he knows. But when fight club stops taking off the edge, Billy lets down his guard…and starts fighting for what’s his.

Let’s talk some more about this book then!
I was so so so excited to read this book and at the same time, that always makes me a bit scared beforehand as well. Scared it won’t be AS good as you’re hoping for. But there’s just no disappointing me when it comes to Laura’s writing like I was proven yet again by reading this book. This second book in the Warrior Fight Club series has stolen my heart, YET AGAIN, there’s no other way to put it. I’m lost in the best way possible. Where I fell in love with Noah and Kristina’s book, this second book sunk its claws in me as well, down to my core. This book is a phenomenal follow-up on Fighting for Everything and made me feel all the feels,. I laughed, I ached, I cried, I loved. There wasn’t a single thing I didn’t love about this book so let me tell you more about it.

Gun at the ready, he made for the bathroom, his free hand reaching the knob.
The door swung open on its own.
“Freeze!” he bit out.
Four things happened pretty much at the same time.
The woman screamed, jumped backward into the door, slamming it against the wall behind her, and dropped a pile of clothing to the floor.
And then the towel she wore around her chest came unknotted and swung open, baring every inch of her.
“Jesus fucknugget, Billy!” the woman screeched.

Our main characters are mesmerizing and interesting and loveable. Laura’s characters aren’t flawless and that makes them so realistic, so relatable and so extremely loveable. Both of our main characters are struggling with their pasts, both in a similar but also a completely different way. And it’s written down so beautifully I think; their struggles but especially the part when they start opening up to one another. I had no problem whatsoever of losing myself to these characters and their story. Special note: Shayne’s swearing IS THE BEST THING EVER!! And it’s so endearing seeing how Billy picks up on this and starts doing it himself as well, sigh. Laugh out Loud moments guaranteed!!

He inhaled a deep breath meant to calm, but it was a mistake. A big one. Because he got a lungful of peaches and sweetness that was all Shayna.
Shayna who was Ryan’s kid sister. Except…nope.
Not one goddamn thing about the woman standing next to him belonged to a kid. And he would know since he’d seen nearly the whole beautiful package.
“Hi,” he said. “Welcome to DC. Sorry I nearly shot you.”

I love the fact that Laura is so good at writing down not only a good romance and engrossing story-lines but that she’s so good at writing down such well-developed characters. And I mean, every single thing about them; the emotional, the physical and what I’m in awe of the most; the psychological part of their characters. It’s all so emotional and palpable and it gets you thinking and feeling so much at the same time.

“I was a fucking handful when I was growing up.”
Shayna grinned. “Oh, so you’re not a handful anymore?”
He gave her the strangest look, and then burst into a speechless guffaw.
Heat absolutely flooded Shay’s face. OH.MY.GOD. Did she seriously just asked him if he was a handful?
“That’s not what I meant!”
Grinning like a shithead, he turned the blender on high. One hand on his hip and the other on the blender, he yelled, “What? I can’t hear you!”
“You are a total ballbag, Billy Parrish!”

And not only the main characters are what make this book such a great read. It was sooo good to read about the ‘old gang’ again, all of the characters we got to meet in the first book in the series but also some new to us characters whom I came to care for so much as well! Laura makes you fall in love with all of her characters, main and minor ones and it makes me so greedy for more books. I seriously just finished this one and it left me craving more this instant. – thankfully at least 2 more books are planned in the series, yay.

The romance starts out as a bit of a forbidden one because Billy wants to maintain his distance since Shayne is his buddy’s ‘little sister’ and he promised to help her out. He struggles with wanting her and at the same time feeling like he isn’t good enough for her – that’s the PTSD part speaking, him thinking about Why he survived the war and a lot of his buddy didn’t.

Why did I survive that shit when so many others didn’t? He’d asked himself that so many times over the past three years…

He’d seen Noah and Kristina together, and it was crystal clear that they were a match of the happily-ever-after kind. And Billy was happy that so many things had turned around for the younger man- Noah had fought for it and deserved it. But it was still a sucker punch to realize you might never find that for yourself

But their connection and chemistry isn’t to be ignored because holy canoly, do these two explode in the most beautiful of fireworks when they’re together! I loooved how they first kind of built their relationship by being friends. This made for a great base of a building romance. Their banter is so much fun to read about, and I had to laugh out loud on several occasions. The humor is such a great addition and in perfect balance, to the romance and emotions you come across throughout the book. And as always, the hotness level is off-the-charts-HOT, sigh.. Laura always knows how to write a perfectly developed combination of chemistry/romance developing/sex.

He was enjoying spending time with her. She was funny and made him laugh and she was just… really easy to be with. Having her around this weekend had made him realize just how much he was usually alone. And that it was actually nice to have some company around his place. It wasn’t going too far to say that he’d had more fun with her setting up her room than he’d ever had in this house since he’d moved in. Doing a whole lot of nothing special. And that was all due to Shayna

I’ve been a fan for years now and every time there’s a new series being released by this author, I’m in wonder. In wonder of the fact that she makes me fall even more in love with her writing. She keeps upping herself with every new book/series and that’s just unbelievably magical I think. the Warrior Fight Club is definitely on top of my all-time favorites list already. Fighting for Everything already made sure of that and having Fighting for what’s His added to the series now as well, makes sure it has an unmovable spot on top of that list.

Fighting for what’s his is a perfect blend of that really beautiful and addictive writing that only Laura can pull off, a truly mesmerizing story and the most realistic, relatable and loveable ‘tortured’ characters. Combine this with Laura’s talent of writing the most beautifully well developed romances, her knack for writing the Best HOT as F*ck sexy scenes and we have another WINNER! Another Laura Kaye book that shook my foundation in the best way possible. Another story and new characters I came to love so fiercely.

The next thing Shayna knew, Billy grasped and pushed her against the wall behind the door. He kissed her full on the mouth. It only took her brain the beat of one second to realize he’d given her exactly what she wanted and to kiss him back. And dear God, the way this man kissed. Like he’d been starving for it. His hands were holding her face and his body was pinning her to the wall and his tongue was tasting her mouth like he was desperate for her. “You can touch me, damnit,” he gritted out around the edge of a kiss. She buried her fingers in his hair, and he groaned.

It’s for the fact that I HAD TO GET SOME SLEEP at some point in the middle of the night – I seriously can’t function the day after without at least a decent amount of sleeping hours and I have a kid to take care of, so yeah, lol – otherwise I’d finished it in one sitting. UNPUTDOWNABLE! I cannot wait to read more of this author in general but this series has made its way into the core of my existence.
